Cori Gauff is an American Tennis player. She is the former Junior World No. 1. She became the youngest player to qualify for Wimbledon, and she rose to fame after she defeated Venus Williams in the first round.

Cori Gauff was born on 13 March 2004 (age 15 years; as in 2019) in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Her zodiac sign is Pisces. Her mother homeschooled her; which helped Cori focus on her training as a tennis player. She did not attend college as she was doing well in her career, but, her mother wants her to attend college in the future.

Her parents encouraged her to try out different sports. They wanted her to choose her field of focus on her own. Cori tried several sports but she decided that she wants to play tennis. She loved the Williams’ sisters and she was inspired by them. Her family used to live in Atlanta, but they moved to Delray Beach, Florida, United States when Cori started to play tennis. She was good at it, and her parents wanted to give her the best environment to grow in the field of tennis. Her parents gave up their career and they started focusing on Cori’s training. Her father started coaching her, and her mother focused on her studies by homeschooling her.

Cori Gauff belongs to the African American Community. Her father, Corey Gauff, is a former professional basketball player, and now he works as a health care executive. Career

At the age of 8, Cori joined the New Generation Tennis Academy, and she was trained by Gerard Logo. In 2012, she participated and won the Maureen Connolly Brinker Tennis Foundation’s “Little Mo” eight-and-under nationals. It was her first national title. In 2014, she joined the Mouratoglou Academy, which was run by Serena Williams’ coach, Patrick Mouratoglou. Patrick Mouratoglou loved her playing style, determination, and athleticism since the moment he saw her playing. In 2014, she became the youngest player ever at the age of 10 years and 4 months to win the United States Tennis Association Clay Court National 12-and-under title.

In 2014, she made her International debut in the US Open Junior, and she finished as a runner up. In 2018, she won her first Grand Slam in the French Open against Caty McNally. She also became the fifth youngest player ever to win the French Open Junior. In the same year, she won another competition against Caty McNally and became the World No. 1 Junior.

In September 2018, she participated in the US Open Junior with Caty McNally for the doubles title and won. In December 2018, she participated in the Junior Fed Cup with Alexa Noel and won the doubles title. Cori also took part in the Orange Bowl Championship and won. She finished the season as the Junior World No. 2.

In 2019, she made history by becoming the youngest ever player to qualify for Wimbledon at the age of 15 years and 3 months. In her first round, she was pitted against Venus Williams. Cori was very excited about this match as Venus was her idol and the inspiration to pursue tennis. She was very nervous the night before her match with Venus, but, during the match, she stayed confident. When she won, she couldn’t control her emotions and she cried on the court. Later, in an interview, she said that this was the first time that she cried on the court.

She also revealed that while she was in the match, she was doing a mental trick to stay focused and not to become nervous. She kept remembering a dialogue from the movie “Hoosiers”- the lines of this court are the same as she used to practice on. After the match, when Venus came to congratulate Cori on her victory, Cori said to her-

Cori advanced to the Round of 16 of Wimbledon after defeating Magdaléna Rybáriková and Polona Hercog, but, was ousted from the tournament after losing to Simona Halep.
